Welcome to Shoreditch Counselling.
About us.
Founded by Doug Edwards, Shoreditch Counselling is dedicated to creating a safe, respectful, and empathetic environment. Our team of therapists combines warmth and humor with professional care to help you alleviate pain and gain a deeper understanding of your emotions and relationships.
Our Approach.
Grounded in psychodynamic principles, we use an integrative, trauma-informed approach to understand your life experiences. We recognise that coping mechanisms, which once served to protect you, may now hinder your ability to live fully. Through curiosity and compassion, we’ll explore the origins of these defenses and how early life experiences have influenced your current feelings of unhappiness, confusion, or disconnection.
Our Belief.
At Shoreditch Counselling, we believe in the innate desire for personal growth. Our mission is to support you on this journey, helping you overcome obstacles and embrace a fulfilling life.
Our founder Doug Edwards has brought together a trusted team who’s approaches are centered around respect and empathy, infused with humour and warmth. All of our therapist aim to help you alleviate your pain and become more aware of your feelings, and patterns of relating to yourself and others.
With a heavy psychodynamic influence, We use an integrative, trauma-informed, approach to understand your life experiences. The ways that we’ve learned to cope, our defenses, are rooted in self-protection. What was once useful no longer serves us, and can get in the way of living fully. With curiosity and compassion, we’ll explore where these defenses came from, how early life experiences have shaped you, and have led to your feeling unhappy, lost, or confused and ultimately seeking therapy.
We believe each person has an innate desire to grow, and that is what Shoreditch counselling promotes: growth.
